there was talk of a hundred trillion dollar bill going into production, but i don't know if that's still happening now.

zimbabwe announced this week that it is abandoning its currency due to hyperinflation. in november 2008, the country's annual rate of inflation was estimated at 89.7 sextillion percent.

that's right... annual inflation of 89,700,000,000,000,000,000,000%

the country recently introduced a $1,000,000,000 note, and citizens are complaining that their salaries of trillions of zimbabwean dollars aren't enough to cover the cost of the bus ride to work every day. the average teacher's salary is the equivalent of US$1 per month.
